Since its founding in 1994, Legacy Counsellors, P.C. has focused solely on helping families create a lasting legacy. We understand that your loved ones are important to you, and we want to help you provide for them even after you are gone through proper estate planning measures. Because you want to make sure your future heirs receive as much of your estate as quickly as possible, it is important that you enlist the legal guidance of a probate and estate planning lawyer to help you with effective strategies to avoid probate and reduce estate taxes.

Our legal team prides itself on listening to clients' goals and then creating unique estate plans that help to accomplish their desires. We also make sure that your plans are actually executed should you become incapacitated or pass away. Kevin D. Quinn, Esq.

Massachusetts Estate Planning Attorney Kevin D. Quinn, J.D.

President & Founding Attorney

Mr. Quinn is the founder and president of Legacy Counsellors, P.C., an estate and business planning law firm serving successful individuals and families throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. He is admitted to the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Connecticut.

An accomplished Estate and Wealth Strategies Planners®, Mr. Quinn is a former Fellow of the Esperti-Peterson Institute and has completed the institute's three-year post-doctoral program in Wealth Strategies Planning®. Attorney Quinn is a member of the WealthCounsel, LLC. Mr. Quinn is a former member of the National Counsel on Planned Giving and the Connecticut Planned Giving Group. He is a co-founder of the Wealth Legacy Development Project, an organization dedicated to helping non-profit organizations develop planned giving programs.

Mr. Quinn is the founder and an instructor of the Wealth Strategies Institute, LLC, a professional education institute that provides continuing education to certified public accountants, certified financial planners, attorneys, development officers, and insurance professionals. He is a former Adjunct Professor of the Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University and has taught classes for Lorman Education Services, Wealth Counsel, LLC, and the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys.

Attorney Quinn is a Contributing Authority to "GIVING for Everyone", a seminal treatise on planned giving. In addition to the "GIVING" project, Attorney Quinn is a Contributing Authority to "GENERATIONS, Planning Your Legacy", a complete discourse of thought-provoking answers to America's most frequently asked estate planning questions, and "STRICTLY BUSINESS", an authoritative text on business planning, succession strategies, and wealth strategies planning for business owners. Mr. Quinn is also a contributing editor of Conspectus, an online estate planning periodical of the Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University.

In addition to a degree of Juris Doctor from Western New England School of Law, Mr. Quinn obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Massachusetts Estate Planning Attorney Michael S. Gove, J.D.

Partner & Attorney

Michael S. Gove received his J.D. from Boston College School of Law in 2004, after graduating cum laude from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst in 2001. From 2004 until 2006, Michael served as the law clerk for the Western Division of the Housing Court and has been in private practice since then, including as the sole owner of Gove Law Office from 2013 through 2021.

A Western Massachusetts native, Michael has developed a diverse legal practice including estate planning and administration, general business and corporate law, and residential and commercial real estate matters. Michael is committed to assisting business owners and families in looking forward and planning for the future, and to finding creative and collaborative solutions to legal obstacles.

Michael is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Hampden County Bar Association, the Hampshire County Bar Association, and the Connecticut Bar Association. In 2007, he was honored by BusinessWest as a member of the inaugural “40 Under Forty” class, in part for his work with the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission.

From 2007 through 2012, Michael served as a Board member on the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, a multi-billion dollar governmental agency tasked with managing water and sewage services for more than two million residents of the greater Boston area. He presently serves as a Corporator of The Horace Smith Fund, which grants scholarships for Hampden County residents pursuing a college or graduate education.

Michael also serves as the Chair of the Board of the UMass Fine Arts Center, and volunteers with Cooley Dickinson Hospital, United Way of Hampshire County, and Gateway City Live.org, and previously served as President of the Advisory Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County.

In 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, Michael was selected as a Massachusetts Rising Star by Super Lawyers, a professional achievement earned by no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in Massachusetts.

In 2019, Michael was named Affiliate of the Year by the REALTOR® Association of Pioneer Valley.

Michael currently resides in Huntington, where he enjoys hiking, kayaking, and bicycling through the Pioneer Valley.

Brian Roode

Attorney Brian C. Roode

Brian graduated with his J.D. from the Massachusetts School of Law in 2008 and owned his own sole practice until joining the Gove Law Office in 2018.  Brian practices in Worcester, Hampden, and Hampshire Counties, and focuses his practice on real estate transactions, family law and divorce matters (both litigation and mediation), and estate planning.

Brian lives in Wales, with his wife Amy.  When not working, he can usually be found on the water, in the woods, or in the garden.

Attorney Scott Davies

Attorney Scott Davies has a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) Degree and he previously represented clients in regard to their tax issues. Scott has plenty of experience in helping individuals with their tax problems, such as being Director of a Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic since 2013, and previously operating a tutoring service for students enrolled in tax, property, and civil procedure courses.  Scott is a great asset to our team in assisting our clients with their complex tax issues.  In his spare time, Scott likes to read and travel.

Miranda Goncalves

Paralegal Miranda Goncalves

Miranda Goncalves comes to Gove Law Office with five years of paralegal experience, concentrating on real estate transactions.  Miranda has worked with a multitude of lending institutions, attorneys, clients, and realtors all across Massachusetts, but primarily focuses on the Pioneer Valley.  As a native and current resident of Ludlow, she has always enjoyed working within her community by utilizing her extensive knowledge of purchases, sales, and refinances to service clients and ensure a smooth process overall.  In her free time, she can be found hiking with her dog, Turner, and trying new culinary feats in the kitchen.  

Miranda received her Bachelor’s in Legal Studies, with a secondary concentration in Psychology and a Certificate of International Relations, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015. She continues her legal education through regular seminars and courses provided in the community.  Miranda is also fluent in Spanish and conversant in Portuguese.

Mary Ellen

Paralegal Mary-Ellen Hulse

Mary-Ellen Hulse brings with her 30 years of experience in the areas of real estate and corporate law. She has worked with numerous lending institutions, attorneys, clients, and realtors in Western Mass over the years. She has been involved in a multitude of transactions, including residential real estate, commercial real estate, and corporate transactions. Mary-Ellen received her Paralegal Certificate from Elms College in 1990 after receiving an Associate’s Degree in Executive Office Administration from STCC. She has helped organize a variety of fundraisers over the years for the Epilepsy Foundation, Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, and Rays of Hope.

When Mary-Ellen is not working, she spends her free time with her devoted husband, her three beautiful daughters, and her grandson. She enjoys family activities, from fishing with her husband to watching movies with her girls. She also enjoys baking, gardening, and just relaxing with a good book.

Heather Rymasz Legacy Counsellors

Client Services Coordinator Heather Kinan

Heather Kinan joined Legacy Counsellors, P.C. in 2019 as a Client Services Coordinator. She works alongside Christine Biegner to support Attorney Kevin Quinn. Heather provides the attorneys and clients of Legacy Counsellors with support in the areas of financial management and analysis, trust tax return preparations, financial modeling, document creation, and asset funding.

Heather grew up in Pembroke and graduated from Lasell College with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She currently lives in Palmer with her husband, Jon, and their two cats.

Client Services Coordinator Lisa Belz

Lisa Belz is a Client Services Coordinator at Legacy Counsellors. Some of Lisa’s responsibilities include document drafting and creation, trust funding, billing, assisting with client maintenance, and acting as the CT Notary Public when needed.

She grew up in Western Massachusetts and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Elms College. She lives in Connecticut with her husband Mike where they enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors and traveling – especially to New Orleans to watch the Saints play at the Superdome!!

Christine B

Client Services Coordinator Christine M. Biegner

Christine M. Biegner has been providing caring, reliable, and dedicated service to the attorneys and clients of Legacy Counsellors, P.C. since 1998.  Her organizational skills, ability to establish and meet goals and deadlines, and leadership have made Christine an asset to the attorneys, the clients, and the firm. 

As Client Services Coordinator on the Complex Team, Christine has developed long-term relationships with her client base handling all aspects of their estate and business plans including document creation, asset funding, corporate compliance issues, Continuous Care Maintenance Program, and trust settlement. 

Christine earned a B.A. in Psychology from St. John’s University.  She resides in Easthampton, MA where she enjoys spending time with her 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren.  She is an active member of her church and participates in the Mission Committee, Cot Shelter Annex, and Take and Eat Programs.

Emily

Client Services Coordinator Emily Sorbi

Emily Sorbi is the Team Leader of the firm, serving as an intermediary between the attorneys and staff. Emily assists the staff and attorneys on all types of client files and focuses much of her time on Estate Settlement.

Emily grew up in Colebrook, Connecticut, earned her Associate’s Degree at UMass Stockbridge, and her Bachelor’s Degree at Post University. Emily has a life-long love of horses and transitioned from her previous career as an Equine Veterinary Technician to Client Services Coordinator at Legacy Counsellors, P.C. in early 2016. She lives in South Hadley with her husband, two sons, and her dog, Gronk.

Emily spends her free time horseback riding, hiking, biking, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Christine F

Client Services Coordinator Christine Frenette

Christine Frenette provides the attorneys and clients of Legacy Counsellors, P.C. with support in the areas of our Continuous Care Maintenance program, Continuing Education seminars, and marketing.

She earned her associate degree in business administration at Springfield Technical Community College, and her bachelor’s in marketing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst – Isenberg School of Management.

Christine grew up and still resides, in Palmer, Massachusetts. Through school, she worked at Tractor Supply Co. as a Team Leader, and happily made the transition to Client Services Coordinator at Legacy Counsellors, P.C. in September of 2019.

Sarah

Client Services Coordinator Sarah Whiteley

Sarah Whiteley joined Legacy Counsellors, P.C. in 2020 as a Client Services Coordinator. She drafts new client’s estate planning documents. In addition to providing the attorneys with daily administration assistance, she also assists with estate settlements.

As a lifetime resident of the Easthampton area, Sarah thoroughly enjoys being able to work within her community and provide invaluable services to its members. Sarah earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Elms College and her Master’s Degree from Walden University. She has always held interest and admiration towards the legal field. While life’s journey initially took her elsewhere, Sarah is thrilled to have found her way into the legal world.

Outside of the office, Sarah and her partner, Ben, co-run a small farm in Westfield, Massachusetts. In addition to dairy and beef cattle, they also have a small flock of chickens.  

Laura Gilmore

Bookkeeper Laura Gilmore

A dedicated & detail-oriented accounting professional, Laura Gilmore has been meeting the bookkeeping needs of a multitude of small businesses in the Western Mass area since 2007.

Laura is a native of Boston and a true Boston sports fan. She earned her Associate’s degree in Accounting from Devry University. She resides in Ware with her partner JD, his two children Mickey & Jhett, two cats, and the world’s best dog, Rukis.

Laura really enjoys spending her spare time with family, executing as many D-I-Y home projects as she can, and expressing her love of crafting.
