Dad Still Holds the Conservatorship for Britney Spears’ Assets

MP900399277It’s impossible to be a global superstar and not have fans knowing every detail about your life, but Jamie Spears, Brittany’s dad, is doing what he can to preserve her privacy.

Attorneys for Jamie Spears met in a hearing at Los Angeles Superior Court to plead with a county court judge, according to a report from Radar, “Britney Spears’ Dad Begs Judge To Seal Conservator Case Docs For Kids’ Sakes.” Mr. Spears wants a portion of an upcoming order to be sealed, to protect his grandchildren.

Britney is leaving Las Vegas, with her residency concluding. However, the conservatorship set up with her father, Jamie Spears, in control over her life may continue indefinitely.

“The Order contains information that relates to and reveals details relating to Ms. Spears’ estate planning, attorney-client privileged documents, and personal and private information relating to Ms. Spears and her minor children,” estate co-conservator Andrew M. Wallet wrote in the most recent filing on December 27, 2017.

Wallet argued that there was no “constitutional right” to public access of the documents, and Britney and her boys have a “right to privacy” in the matter.

During the hearing, the judge granted the motion to seal.

In the past, documents relating to the case have contained shocking information about her prior drug abuse, partying and wild spending.

Britney, who’s now 36, has been under conservatorship since 2008, after her very public meltdown and custody loss of her sons, Sean Preston, 12, and Jayden James, 11, to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The New York Times reported last year that every purchase Britney makes is tracked in court documents to protect her fortune. She pays her dad $130,000 a year to manage her affairs.

Brittany has regained custody of her children while under her father’s watchful eye, and has continued her career as a major superstar and recording artist.
